At Least 1 Injured When Car Crashes Into Creek in Pinch Car Accident

April 6, 2011 - Pinch, W.Va. - At least one person has been hospitalized following a single-vehicle accident in Pinch.

WBOY reports that the accident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Monday. The driver of the vehicle evidently lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into a nearby creek.

At least one person was injured in the crash.

One of the victims was trapped in the vehicle when emergency responders arrived on the scene. Responders had to cut the person free from the vehicle.

According to dispatchers, one person was unresponsive to EMS and another was transported to a local hospital. The extent of either person's injuries is unknown at this time.

Dispatchers said two ambulances were originally called to the scene, though one was later canceled.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The cause of the accident is unclear at this time. The Pinch car accident remains under investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
