A Jackson County ATV and Car Collision Leave 1 Injured

July 15, 2011 - Jackson County, W.Va. - According to a news story on WSAZ, a person was injured in a car accident involving an ATV and a car in Jackson County during the afternoon on Wednesday.

The report stated that the accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m., on Highland Road, in Kenna. According to Jackson County 911 dispatchers, the ATV crashed into the rear of a car on Highland Road.

The ATV rider was injured in the accident and had to be flown to a local hospital for treatment. There is no word on the victim's medical condition. The driver of the car has not been reported injured.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released. The car and the ATV were the only vehicles involved and no further injuries have been reported. The cause of the accident remains to be determined as it is under ongoing investigation by officials in Jackson County.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
