2-Vehicle Huntington Car Accident Hospitalizes 3

July 15, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - According to a news report from WSAZ, 3 people had to be taken to the hospital following a car accident at an intersection in Huntington.

The accident happened, at about midnight on Wednesday, at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 13th Street in Huntington. Officials said that a car was driving westbound on 3rd Avenue when it collided with a van that had been travelling on 13th Street.

The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the van were injured in the accident. All 3 were transported to a local hospital for treatment. All of the victims are said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released. There is no word on whether or not charges will be filed in connection with this accident. The cause of the accident remains to be determined as it is under ongoing investigation by authorities in Huntington.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
