2-Vehicle Car Accident in Lewis County End with Fatality

January 13, 2012 – Lewis County, W.Va. – A 2-vehicle accident near the Gilmore-Lewis County line left a person dead on Thursday, January 12.

WDTV indicates that the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Route 33, in the Pickle Street area. Officials said that 2 vehicle collided on the road. Additional details of how the accident occurred are not available at this time.

Reports indicate that a person had suffered fatal wounds in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whether or not any other people were hurt as a result of this accident is uncertain. The names of those involved in the crash have not been revealed to the public.

The root of the accident remains unknown as it is under continuous investigation by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials with the Pricetown, Weston and Midway Fire Departments along with the West Virginia State Police were all on the scene in response to the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
