June 23, 2011 - Sissonville, W.Va. - According to a news story reported on WBOY, 2 people were thrown from their car, late Tuesday afternoon, when their vehicle crashed on the interstate in Sissonville.
According to 911 dispatchers, the single-vehicle accident happened at about 3:15 p.m., on Interstate 77, near the 105 mile marker, in Kanawha County. Reports have indicated that a vehicle seemed to have lost control, right before a sharp turn, and crashed in the northbound lanes of the interstate.
Two people were ejected from the vehicle when it wrecked. There is no word on the condition of the victims or in any other parties were injured. The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.
The cause of the accident is under ongoing investigation and is being handled by the Kanawha County Sheriff's department.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
