2 Injured When SUV Overturns in Elkins

October 5, 2011 - Elkins, W.Va. - Tuesday morning, October 4, a 2-vehicle car accident sent 2 people to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 10 a.m. on Beverly 5 Lane close to the Mountain Valley Bank. According to police, a Jeep was driving northbound on Route 219 when it crashed into a second SUV. The Jeep then overturned multiple times.

The 2 men that were in the Jeep at the time of the accident were thrown from the vehicle when it rolled. Both men were transported to Davis Memorial Hospital immediately following the crash. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

The woman who was driving the second SUV was reported not to be injured in the accident.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. Investigations are being handled by the Elkins Police Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
