2 Injured When Dump Truck Crashes in New Martinsville

August 12, 2011 - New Martinsville, W.Va. - A New Martinsville accident sent 2 people to the hospital Wednesday, August 10.

WBOY reported on the accident, which happened on Doolin Run Road.. Sheriff James Hoskins said that a dump truck was involved in a single-vehicle car accident on the roadway. The details of the accident are unclear as of right now.

Two people were reported to be injured in the accident. One of the injured was unconscious after the accident and had to be transported to a local hospital via ambulance. The extent of that person's injuries is unknown at this time.

The second person received only minor injuries and was able to drive himself to the hospital.

The identities of the victims injured in the accident have not yet been publicly released. The dump truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident and no further injuries have been reported.

The reason for this accident remains to be determined. The accident is continues to be investigated.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
