2 Injured When Car Hits Tree in Marion County

September 20, 2011 - Marion County, W.Va. - Two people were injured when their vehicle crashed into a tree on Monday, September 19.

WDTV reports that the accident happened just before 5:30 a.m. on Paw Paw Creek in Baxter. According to police, the vehicle was traveling the road when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree on the roadside.

The 2 people who were in the vehicle when the accident occurred had sustained injuries. One of the victim's had to be airlifted by a helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital, while the other victim was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital by an ambulance.

The medical conditions of those injured in the accident are unknown at this time. Their identities are also unknown to the public.

The reason behind the cause of the accident remains to be determined. Deputies of the Marion County Sheriff's Department are still in the process of investigating.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
