2 Injured in Head-On Collision in Harrison County

January 9, 2012 – Harrison County, W.Va. – A head-on collision sent 2 people to the hospital on Friday, January 6.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Saltwell Road. Investigators said that 2 Dodge pickup trucks crashed into one another, head-on, on the roadway.

Both drivers were injured in the accident. One of the drivers was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital via HealthNet. The second driver was transported to United Hospital Center by ambulance. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The names of those involved in the incident have not been revealed to the public.

The cause of the crash remains to be resolved. The accident is under the stages of investigation by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials with Bridgeport Fire, Bridgeport EMS, Shinnston Fire, Lumberport Fire, and Harrison County EMS were also on the scene in response to the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
