2 Hospitalized after Motorcycle Hits Truck in Randolph County

July 8, 2011 - Montrose, W.Va. - Two people had to be taken to the hospital after their motorcycle hit a truck in Randolph County during the afternoon on Wednesday.

According to a report from WDTV, the accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on northbound Route 219 in Montrose. A man and a woman were riding the motorcycle when it crashed into the rear of a pickup truck. Officials said that the pickup truck had stopped in the roadway and was attempting to make a left turn.

Both the man and the woman who had been riding the motorcycle suffered injuries in the accident. Both were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for medical attention. The extent of their injuries is undetermined at this time.

The identities of the victims and truck driver have not yet been revealed. The accident is still under investigation by State Police in Randolph County.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
