2 Hospitalized after 4-Vehicle Car Crash in Arthurdale

June 17, 2011 - Arthurdale, W.Va. - Two people were taken to the hospital following a 4-vehicle car collision in Arthurdale.

WBOY reports that the crash occurred late Thursday morning on Route 92 in Preston County. Roxie Sirbaugh was travelling northbound on Route 92 when a vehicle driven by Nathan Cogar pulled out into her path, causing the 2 vehicles to collide.

The impact sent Sirbaugh's vehicle into the opposite lane of traffic, where it was struck by an SUV. The SUV then rebounded and crashed into a tractor trailer.

The driver of the SUV, Rita Utt, and Sirbaugh were injured in the accident. Both women had to be transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. They are said to be in stable condition.

Cogar and the driver of the tractor trailer have not been reported injured. The identity of the truck driver has not been released.

Route 92 was blocked for some time following the accident as crews worked to clear the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
