1 Injured When Vehicle Overturns in Cross Lanes

July 18, 2011 - Cross Lanes, W.Va. - A person was injured Saturday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Cross Lanes.

A report from WBOY, stated that the accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m., in the area of 4918 Dempsey Drive, located in Cross Lanes. The vehicle was travelling on the roadway when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle flipped over.

Dispatchers from 911 said that a person was injured in the accident. That person had to be transported to Thomas Memorial Hospital for treatment. The victims' medical condition is not known at this time nor has his or her identity been released yet.

There was only one vehicle involved in this rollover accident and no further injuries have been reported. Whether or not there were any more people in the vehicle at the time of the accident is unclear. The accident is under ongoing investigation by authorities in the Cross Lanes area.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
