1 Injured in Clarksburg Crash When Semi Runs Red Light

May 3, 2011 - Clarksburg, W.Va. - One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident late Sunday night in Clarksburg.

WBOY reports that the Clarksburg crash occurred on Route 50 at the interchange with Interstate 79 in Clarksburg. Officials said that a truck was coming off of I-79 when it went through a red light, hitting a station wagon that was driving west on Route 50.

There were 6 people involved in the crash, one was injured. The injured woman had to be taken to United Hospital Center for treatment. As of early Monday morning, there was no word concerning the extent of her injuries.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The accident involved only those two vehicles and there were no further injuries.

Parts of Route 50 were blocked to traffic for some time following the accident. All lanes have since been reopened.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
