1 Injured, 1 Charged with DUI in Morgantown Accident

August 9, 2011 - Morgantown, W.Va. - A man was hospitalized and another was arrested for DUI following a car accident Sunday, August 7.

WBOY reports that the accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. outside of the Area 51 bar in Morgantown. Officials said that Todd Blaney, 33, pulled into the path of an oncoming motorcycle, when he was attempting to make a left turn into the bar's parking lot. The motorcycle crashed into the side of Blaney's van.

The driver of the motorcycle, Van F. Croft, 46, was injured in the accident. He was taken to Ruby memorial Hospital for treatment. There is no word on the extent of his injuries.

Blaney has been arrested and charged with DUI, DUI with injury, failure to maintain control, and failure to yield to the right of way.

The motorcycle and the van were the only vehicles involved in the accident and no further injuries have been reported.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
