1 Hurt in 2-Vehicle Car Accident in Kanawha City

August 24, 2011 - Kanawha City, W.Va. - A person was injured Tuesday morning, August 23, when 2 vehicles collided into each other.

According to a WSAZ news report, the accident happened at about 8 a.m. on MacCorkle Avenue, in Kanawha City. The 2 vehicles collided at the intersection of MacCorkle Avenue and 36th Street. The details of how the accident occurred are not yet available.

One person was injured in the accident. That person had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. There is no information on the extent of the victim's injuries. The identity of the injured person has not yet been revealed.

The second driver was not reported to be injured in the accident. No further injuries have been reported in connection with this accident.

The westbound lanes of MacCorkle Avenue were blocked from traffic for about 30 minutes after the accident. The accident is under the stages of investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
