1 Child, 2 Adults Injured in Single-Vehicle Car Crash in Fairmont

July 11, 2011 - Fairmont, W.Va. - Two adults and a child were sent to the hospital Sunday night following a single-vehicle car crash in Marion County.

WDTV reports that the crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. near the Coal Country Miniature Golf Course in Fairmont. The vehicle was travelling on the roadway when, due to unknown causes, it wrecked, overturning several times on the roadway.

A man, a woman, and a nine-year-old child were the victims in this single-vehicle car crash. One of the adults had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The other adult and the child were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital by ambulance for medical attention.

The medical conditions of all those involved in the crash are unknown at this time. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash but it remains to be determined as it is under ongoing investigation by deputies of the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
