2010 House of Delegate Pages Do you know a student in Harrison County that would like to learn more about the legislative process in West Virginia?

The West Virginia Legislature offers a Page Program for students in grades 5 thru 12. Delegate Miley would like to offer his help to give students in his district the opportunity to Page.

Please complete the Parent or Guardian Contact Information form to let us know if you are interested in getting a student to Page. The Legislative Session begins January 11th and lasts 60 days so you only have a short window to get your date locked in and assigned. They only have room for certain amount of Pages per day and kids from all over the state are encouraged to participate.

The Page Program provides opportunities for students to see state government in action. On the day that is agreed upon by the parents/guardian/chaperone and the Page Administrator, the students will meet at 10:00am in front of the House Chamber near the Capitol rotunda. A guide will then lead everyone through an orientation and a Chamber etiquette briefing. The length of the floor session (floor session begins promptly at 11:00am) will be determined by the legislative agenda that day but you can expect at least 30 minutes and at most one and a half hours.

State Capitol Tour
Tours begin on the ground floor of the Rotunda Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every half hour. Saturday tours are available at one, two, three and four o’clock. Please make your reservations by calling 304.558.4839.

Governor’s Mansion
Tours begin every half hour on the front porch of the Governor’s Mansion Thursday and Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. the last tour begins at 11 a.m. For reservations please call: 304.558.4839. (Note: tours of the Governor’s Mansion may be canceled at any time).

West Virginia State Museum
Self-guided tours of the State Museum are available during regular operating hours. Groups of 15 or more are asked to pre-arrange visits of The West Virginia State Museum by contacting the Museum Scheduler at 304-558-0220 ext. 175, or via email at nancy.p.herholdt@wv.gov. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00am-5:00pm, and Sunday noon-5:00pm. NOTE: The museum is closed on Mondays.

West Virginia State Culture Center and Museum Shop
You may enjoy the Culture Center at your leisure Tuesday-Saturday 9 am-5 pm, and Sunday noon-5:00pm. Located on the right side of the Great Hall as you enter the Culture Center, the Museum Shop has a variety of mementos and exceptional handcrafted art and crafts by West Virginia artists. Selections for young shoppers are priced under $5 and up. We recommend visiting the shop after your museum journey and before you pick up your coats from the check-in area next door. Treasurer’s Office
The Treasurer’s Office offers short ten-minute tours Monday – Friday mornings. Please call Nancy Francis at 304.558.5000 to schedule your tour.

Secretary of State
Tours are offered during the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 12 noon and 2 p.m. - 5p.m. Arrange tours by calling Judy Cooper at 304.558.6000

Supreme Court Chambers
