Young Boy Hit by Vehicle in Putnam County Pedestrian Accident

September 6, 2010 - Putnam County, W. Va. - A young boy was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after being struck by a car during a pedestrian accident in Putnam County.

WBOY reports that the accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday not far from the Hurricane city limits. The child was walking on Virginia Avenue when a vehicle hit him.

The boy was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center immediately following the pedestrian accident. Officials stated that the child sustained only minor injuries. It was also said that he was both conscious and speaking at the hospital.

The child pedestrian accident remains under investigation by West Virginia State Police.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
