Woman Injured In SUV Rollover Accident on I-64

November 16, 2010 - Barboursville, W.Va. - One person was injured when an SUV overturned on an Interstate 64 entrance ramp near Barboursville.

WSAZ reports that the crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. Monday on the westbound entrance ramp to I-64 at mile marker 18. The entrance ramp is located at the Merritt's Creek Exit.

According to emergency responders on the scene, the woman who was driving the SUV had to be transported to the hospital following the accident. The medical condition of the woman is yet to be released.

Though one other car was involved in the accident, there were no further injuries resulting from the crash.

The I-64 entrance ramp was blocked to traffic for about an hour after the SUV crash and has since been reopened. Traffic on I-64 was not disrupted by the rollover accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
