Woman Injured in DUI Accident on Cheat Road

July 27, 2010 - Morgantown, W. Va. - A man was arrested on Friday for his involvement in a possible DUI car accident on Cheat Road.

WDTV reports that the man was driving a Pontiac minivan near Novichenks Bar at the time of the accident. The man, Michael Bennett, crossed over the center line and crashed into a silver passenger car head on.

The female driver of the silver passenger car suffered minor injuries in the Morgantown car crash. Bennett was uninjured.

Officers conducted field sobriety tests at the scene of the accident, which Bennett failed. Bennett was arrested on the scene for felony DUI charges. At this time, he is being detained at the North Central Regional Jail with a $25,000 bond.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
