Volkswagen Crashes on I-79 in Morgantown Causing Minor Injuries and Traffic Delays

March 8, 2011 - Morgantown, W.Va. - One person suffered minor injuries and one lane of traffic was closed following an accident on Interstate 79.

WBOY reports that the accident happened shortly after noon Monday close to mile marker 152 on Interstate 79 in Morgantown. According to witnesses on the scene, a Volkswagen Beetle was travelling southbound when its driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a second vehicle.

The driver of the Volkswagen received minor injuries in the crash and was able to be treated on the scene. Emergency personnel said the two occupants of the second vehicle were uninjured.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and there were no further injuries.

One lane of southbound I-79 was blocked to traffic for some time following the accident.

The accident is under ongoing investigation by State Police troopers.
