Victim Airlifted After Crash on State Route 2 in Mason County

December 22, 2010 - Point Pleasant, W.Va. - Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon in an accident in Mason County.

WSAZ reports that the accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on State Route 2 in Mason County when two vehicles collided on the roadway. Further details concerning the manner of the collision are unavailable at this time.

Two people received injuries in the wreck. One of the injured was flown to a local hospital by medical helicopter. The second person was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

The names, ages, or genders of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by the Mason County Sheriff's Department.

Traffic was blocked on Route 2 for some time Tuesday afternoon as emergency response crews worked to clear the scene of vehicles and debris.
