Victim Airlifted After Clarksburg Motorcycle Accident

March 19, 2011 - Clarksburg W.V. - One person suffered serious personal injuries in a motorcycle accident early this morning. WBOY reports that the victim required a medical airlift to a trauma hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department are conducting an investigation into this accident, which occurred shortly after 3 a.m. this morning. Investigators say the victim was riding a motorcycle in the Arlington Addition area of Clarksburg when he somehow crashed. It was not immediately clear if another vehicle was involved or if the victim lost control of the motorcycle.

A witness to the motorcycle accident called emergency services and reported the crash. According to this witness, the victim was lying in the roadway and was not breathing when first responders arrived. Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was airlifted to an unnamed trauma hospital for treatment. The victim's identity has not been released, and his condition is currently unknown.

Video from the scene shows a HealthNet helicopter landing in the road in front of an unidentified white church. Harrison County paramedics and firefighters were assisting the victim until he was transported. The investigation continues.
