Two-Vehicle Crash in Huntington Sends 3 to Hospital With Injuries

December 13, 2010 - Huntington, W.Va. - Three people were sent to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision in Huntington.

WBOY reports that the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. Friday in the area where Route 60 and Washington Boulevard intersect. Two vehicles collided on the roadway, causing one to overturn and land upside down.

Cabell County Dispatchers stated that one person was trapped in the overturned vehicle following the vehicle accident. This person could not be freed until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

Two female victims and one male victim were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center immediately following the crash. The extent of these people's injuries is unknown at this time.

The identities of those involved in the auto accident have not yet been released.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by the Huntington Police Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
