Two Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash on Route 151 in Buckhannon

April 7, 2011 - Buckhannon, W.Va. - A single-vehicle accident in Upshur County sent two people to the hospital Wednesday morning.

WBOY reports that the accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday on Route 151 in the Kesling Mill area. According to sheriff's deputies, a 1999 Jeep Cherokee went off of the roadway, crashed into a ditch and overturned.

Two people were injured in the accident. A male and a female were ejected from the vehicle during the crash on Route 151.

Two helicopters were on the scene to transport the injured victims to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Emergency officials said the injuries of both people were serious.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The Jeep was the only vehicle involved in the crash. There were no further injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Upshur County Sheriff's Department.

Officials from the Buckhannon Fire Department, the Warren District Fire Department and Upshur County EMS were on the scene in response to the crash on Route 151.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
