Two Hospitalized after Car Crashes into House in Harrison County

March 24, 2011 - Harrison County, W. Va. - Two people were sent to the hospital after a vehicle crashed into a residential home in Harrison County.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 6 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Clare. The vehicle ran off of Chub Run Road and smashed into the side of a house. The residents of the house were at home at the time of the accident.

The two occupants of the vehicle were injured in the crash. Both were transported to United Hospital Center for treatment immediately following the accident. The medical conditions of the injured people are unknown at this time.

The residents of the house were not injured when the vehicle hit the house. The names of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

What caused the vehicle to go off of the roadway remains to be determined. The accident is being investigated by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
