Two Arrested, Several Injured in Multi-Car Crash in Huntington

January 21, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - Two people were arrested Wednesday night after a multiple-vehicle accident that sent several people to the hospital.

WBOY reports that the accident happened on Adams Avenue on the west end of the city Wednesday night. According to dispatchers, one vehicle allegedly drove through a red light, leading to the multiple-car wreck. Further details as to how the crash occurred are not available at this time.

Several people were sent to the hospital following the accident. Dispatchers were unable to say exactly how many people were injured. There is no word on the medical conditions of any of the victims.

Two people were arrested on the scene. One of the people arrested, the driver that ran the red light, took off on foot immediately after the accident. Police found the person attempting to hide behind another vehicle.

According to dispatchers, the number of cars involved in the accident is not readily available at this time, but they did say that two of the vehicles were so destroyed as to trap the victims inside.

The identities of the people arrested and/or injured in the crash are yet to be released.
