March 24, 2011 - Buckhannon, W.Va. - A three-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer left one person injured Wednesday morning in Upshur County.
WBOY reports that the truck accident occurred shortly before noon Wednesday at the intersection of Route 33 and Brushy Fork Road near Buckhannon. A Chrysler LeBaron was attempting to cross the intersection on Brushy Fork Road when it was struck by a tractor trailer traveling east on Route 33.
The tractor trailer, which was carrying logs, went across the median and into the opposite lanes of traffic. It then collided with a westbound Buick Ranier SUV and rolled. Both the truck and the SUV came to rest in a nearby ditch.
The man who was driving the SUV was injured in the crash. He had to be transported to St. Joseph's Hospital immediately following the accident. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
The driver of the LeBaron was not injured in the crash.
Police said the driver of the tractor trailer-who was not injured in the collision-might be cited for running a red light.
One of the eastbound lanes and one of the westbound lanes on Route 33 were closed to traffic following the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by the Buckhannon Police Department.
