August 26, 2010 - Hartford, W. Va. - A teenager was struck by a car while attempting to catch a bus in Mason County.
The Charleston Gazette reports that the young pedestrian victim was walking to a bus stop on W.Va. 62 at the time of the accident. A car that was driving northbound on the highway struck the teen as he was crossing the street at about 7:35 a.m. Tuesday.
The medical condition of the pedestrian victim is unknown at this time. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment.
The Mason County Sheriff's Department said that no charges had been filed in connection with the Mason County pedestrian accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
