Teen Girl Injured When Car Goes Over Embankment in Pinch Auto Crash

September 3, 2010 - Pinch, W. Va. - A teen girl was hospitalized after a single-vehicle wreck close to Pinch.

WBOY reports that the crash occurred at around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday on Pinch Road. The girl, 17, was driving her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier along North Pinch Road when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the opposite lane of traffic, and crashed over a 150-foot embankment.

The teen incurred only minor injuries in the crash. She was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center immediately following the accident. The girl was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The girl later stated that some obstruction in the roadway was the cause of the accident. Pinch Road was temporarily shut down while emergency response crews removed car and driver from the embankment.

A news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department stated that no charges are expected to be filed.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
