SUV Rollover Accident on I-79 in Lost Creek Hospitalizes One

March 8, 2011 - Lost Creek, W.Va. - An early morning accident sent one person to the hospital Friday.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at about 7:30 a.m. Friday on Interstate 79 at mile marker 111 in Lost Creek. An SUV overturned on I-79 and came to a stop on the opposite side of the guardrail.

911 officials stated that one person was injured in the SUV rollover accident. That person had to be flown via helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown immediately following the accident. The extent of the person's injuries is unknown at this time.

The identity of the injured person has not yet been released.

The SUV was the only vehicle involved with the I-79 accident and no other people were injured in the crash.

Officials from the Lost Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the Stonewood Volunteer Fire Department, the Anmoore EMS, and the Harrison County EMS were on the scene in response to the accident. 

Traffic on the interstate was delayed while the SUV rollover accident was cleared.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
