January 4, 2011 - Hepzibah, W.Va. - Two people were transported to the hospital Sunday afternoon following a wreck in Hepzibah.
WBOY reports that the accident occurred early Sunday afternoon on Route 19 in Hepzibah. A blue Ford Explorer was stopped in the roadway, waiting for the vehicle in front of it to make a turn across the lanes, when it was rear-ended by a Chrysler sedan.
The driver of the sedan had failed to see the stopped vehicle. The sedan went under the SUV and was buried up to its windshield.
The drivers of both vehicles were injured in the crash. The two people, one male and one female, were taken to United Hospital Center by the Harrison County Emergency Services. The medical condition of either person is unknown at this time.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
As of Sunday evening, no charges had been filed by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department or any other parties.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
