Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Wreck in Marion County Involving Injury

December 2, 2010 - Fairmont, W.Va. - One person was sent to the hospital Wednesday afternoon following a wreck outside of Fairmont.

WDTV reports that the vehicle accident occurred at around 1 p.m. Wednesday on Route 310 just outside of Fairmont. Two vehicles collided on the roadway. Details as to how the crash occurred are unavailable at this time.

One person received injuries in the crash. This person has been transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. The medical condition of this person is unknown.

The names, ages and/or genders of those involved in the accident are yet to be released.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. There were no further injuries.

Route 310 was blocked to traffic for about half an hour following the accident. All lanes have since been reopened.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
