Police Believe Alcohol May Have Been Factor in Fatal Fayette County Crash

October 21, 2010 - Charleston, W.Va. - Police have speculated that alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal car crash in Fayette County that left 1 person dead and another seriously injured.

The Charleston Gazette reports that the accident occurred at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday in the Landisburg area of Fayette County on W. Va. 41. The driver of the car, a 48-year-old woman from Winona, suffered serious injuries in the single-car accident, while her male passenger died on the scene.

The injured driver was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center by HealthNet Air Ambulance Service and is reportedly in critical condition.

At this time, the deceased passenger's identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.

Investigations have not yet revealed a definite cause of the accident. However, deputies have stated that alcohol may have been a factor. Police continue to investigate this tragic accident.
