Pedestrian Struck by Car in Taylor County on Route 73

August 27, 2010 - Taylor County, W.Va. - A man has been hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in Taylor County.

WBOY reports that the pedestrian accident occurred on Route 73 close to the Boothsville Apartments. According to witnesses, the man stepped out in front of a car and was struck down.

The man had to be taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital via medical helicopter. Further details concerning the pedestrian accident are not yet available. The man's condition and identity are currently unknown.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
