Pedestrian Hospitalized after Being Struck by Vehicle in Huntington

January 20, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - A pedestrian was struck by a car last week while attempting to cross a street in Huntington.

WSAZ reports that the accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the intersection of 17th Street and 5th Avenue in Huntington. The pedestrian was trying to cross the street near Marshall University's campus when he or she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The pedestrian was injured in the accident. According to Cabell County Dispatchers, the person had to be transported to the hospital immediately following the accident. The medical condition of the injured person is not available at this time.

The identity of the injured pedestrian has not yet been released. The identity of the driver of the vehicle is also unavailable.

The driver received no injuries in the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the accident and there were no further injuries.

There has been no word as to whether or not charges will be filed in connection with the pedestrian accident.
