April 4, 2011 - Camp Creek, W.Va. - One person was killed and 3 more were injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning.
WBOY reports that the fatal accident occurred at about 11:15 a.m. Saturday morning on Interstate 77 near mile marker 20.5 in Camp Creek. A Buick was traveling southbound on the interstate when the driver lost control of the vehicle. It struck the median and overturned several times.
Four people were in the vehicle at the time of the I-77 accident. One man died on the scene. The other 3 people were injured in the crash.
One of the injured had to be flown to Charleston by Healthnet. The remaining two were transported to Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley for treatment. The medical conditions of the injured people are unknown at this time.
The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.
The Buick was the only vehicle involved in the accident on I-77.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
