Multiple Injuries in Monongalia County Car Accident Involving Infant

July 21, 2010 - Monongalia, W. Va. - At least 2 people have been injured and sent to the hospital after a car accident in Monongalia County.

WDTV reports that the car accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening on Cheat Road. Fire officials stated that 2 people were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital. As of yet, there is no word on the condition of anyone involved in the accident.

Officials have also said that an infant was involved in the accident. The condition of the infant, and whether or not the child was hospitalized, is unknown as of this time.

The Monongalia car accident remains under investigation by state police. There is presently no information about how many vehicles were involved, the names of the victims or the conditions that led to a crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
