Man Injured When Vehicle Crashes into Guardrail on I-64 in Milton

December 22, 2010 - Milton, W.Va. - One man was transported to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash close to Milton.

WSAZ reports that the accident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 64 just west of the Milton exit. Evans Harbour was driving his vehicle in the westbound lanes of I-64 when he appears to have lost control of the vehicle and collided with a guardrail. The guardrail then pierced the driver's side of Harbour's vehicle.

Harbour was trapped in his vehicle when emergency crews arrived on the scene. Nearly 30 minutes passed before crews were able to free Harbour from the vehicle.

Harbour was transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment. His medical condition is unknown at this time.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no other people were injured as a result.

Officials from the Milton Police Department were on the scene in response to the single-vehicle accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
