Man Injured when Car Flips on Its Side on East Grafton Road in Marion County

November 18, 2010 - Marion County, W.Va. - One man was sent to the hospital after his vehicle flipped on its side Tuesday evening in Marion County.

WDTV reports that the single-vehicle accident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on East Grafton Road, not far from Fairmont. The man was driving on the roadway when he evidently lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle somehow ended up coming to a rest on its side.

The male driver was trapped in the vehicle after the accident. Emergency crews had to cut him free from the wrecked vehicle. The process took more than ½ hour.

The man received injuries in the crash. He was transported to Fairmont General Hospital as soon as crews were able to remove him from his car. His medical condition is unknown at this time.

The man was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident. No others were injured in the crash.

The single-car accident remains under investigation. All further investigations are being handled by the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
