Man Injured in Rollover Accident on I-79 in Marion County

March 4, 2011 - Marion County, W.Va. - An accident on Interstate 79 left one man in the hospital with unknown injuries Wednesday evening.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. on Interstate 79 close to the Kingmont Road exit in Marion County. A man who is said to be in his 60s was driving northbound on I-79 when he evidently lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

The man was trapped in the vehicle after the rollover accident. Emergency crews had to cut him free. He was then transported via ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

Healthnet was originally contacted to fly the man to the hospital, but had to be canceled due to time constraints. The helicopter would not have been able to get to the scene fast enough, officials said.

The cause of the rollover accident on I-79 remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation by State Police.
