Man Injured in Rollover Accident on East Grafton Road in Marion County

February 24, 2011 - Marion County, W.Va. - One man has been sent to the hospital following an accident in Marion County Tuesday night.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday on East Grafton Road in Marion County. The man was driving on the roadway when he evidently lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then overturned, landing in or near a garage close to the road.

The man was injured in the rollover accident. He was transported via ambulance to Fairmont General Hospital immediately following the accident. The extent of the man's injuries is unknown at this time.

Healthnet was originally contacted to transport the man to the hospital, but helicopters were unable to fly due to adverse weather conditions.

Emergency crews were on the scene to clear the large mess of vehicle and debris left by the accident.

The cause of the rollover accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
