Man Injured after Dump Truck Overturns in Raleigh County

November 3, 2010 - Beckley, W.Va. - One man was sent to the hospital after an accident in Raleigh County late Monday night.

WBOY reports that the truck crash occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Monday on Sweeneysburg Road close to Range Road. An empty dump truck was driving along the roadway when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The truck then hit and rolled over an embankment.

Only one person received injuries in the truck accident. Officials stated that the injured man was flown by HealthNet to a hospital in Charleston. The severity of the man's injuries is unknown at this time.

The victim's name and/or age have not yet been released.

Emergency responders from Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department and Pax Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene Monday night. Both fire departments, along with tow truck crews, were to return to the scene Tuesday morning to remove the truck from the embankment.

The truck accident remains under investigation by the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
