Man Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision in Kanawha County

November 26, 2010 - Kanawha County, W.Va. - One person was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision in Kanawha County.

WSAZ reports that the vehicle accident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Corridor G and Cantley Drive. Emergency crews on the scene stated that a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl was attempting to turn onto the corridor from Cantley Drive. A white Jeep travelling southbound on Corridor G struck the girl's vehicle.

The teen driver did not incur any injuries in the crash. The man who was driving the Jeep, however, was injured and had to be transported to the hospital immediately following the accident. According to emergency response crews, the man's condition "(did) not look good."

The identities of those involved in the accident are yet to be released.

The southbound lanes of Corridor G were shut down for about 1 ½ hours following the accident. The 2-vehicle accident remains under investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
