Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on Route 2 Near Beech Bottom

January 13, 2011 - Beech Bottom, W.Va. - One man died Tuesday as a result of an accident that happened in Brooke County.

WBOY reports that the fatal accident occurred late Tuesday afternoon on Route 2 in Brooke County. Michael Cipoletti, 48, was driving his vehicle just south of Beech Bottom when, for reasons unknown, the vehicle crashed.

Cipoletti died on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in Cipoletti's vehicle at the time of the accident.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no other people were injured.

The cause of the Route 2 crash remains to be determined. Officials have not indicated whether or not inclement winter weather could have been a factor in the crash.

Officials from the Brooke County Sheriff's Department, Brooke County EMS, Beech Bottom Fire Department, Windsor Heights Fire Department, and officers from the West Virginia State Police were on the scene in response to the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
