Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Bunker Hill

December 16, 2010 - Bunker Hill, W.Va. - One man was killed Monday morning when his vehicle crashed into a utility pole.

The Martinsburg Journal reports that the accident happened at around 7 a.m. Monday on Goldmiller Road. Preliminary investigations suggest that a black 2000 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Earl Jenkins, 55, of Bunker Hill, went off of the roadway and collided with a utility pole.

According to Trooper 1st Class J.B. Flannigan with the West Virginia State Police, police arrived on the scene to find the Jeep settled on the eastern side of the roadway. Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Further details concerning the cause of the fatal single-vehicle accident are not available at this time. The accident is under ongoing investigation.

The South Berkeley Volunteer Fire Department and personnel from the Berkeley County Emergency Ambulance Authority, as well as the West Virginia State Police, were on the scene in response to the accident.
