Female Victim Suffers Head Injury in Enterprise Pedestrian Accident

December 13, 2010 - Harrison County, W.Va. - One woman had to be flown to the hospital Saturday after being hit by a vehicle.

WDTV reports that the pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 19 between Casey's Restaurant and the Enterprise Dairy Mart. The female pedestrian victim was struck by a minivan on the roadway. The woman went up onto the minivan's windshield on impact.

According to officials on the scene, the woman is in her late 30s and has suffered severe head trauma as a result of the accident. She was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital immediately following the accident via Healthnet Helicopter. Her current medical condition is unknown.

The identity of the injured woman and/or the driver of the minivan are yet to be released. The pedestrian accident remains under investigation. Whether or not charges will be filed remains to be determined.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
