Female Senior Driver Dies in Hospital Following Mason County Crash

March 11, 2011 - Point Pleasant, W.Va. - One woman died Wednesday afternoon as the result of an accident in Mason County.

WSAZ reports that the accident occurred just after 4 p.m. Wednesday along State Route 52 in Mason County, just north of Point Pleasant. At least two vehicles were involved in the accident. Details concerning how the accident happened are not available at this time.

The drivers of both vehicles had to be removed from their vehicles by emergency crews on the scene. One of the drivers, Lynn Smith Durst, 76, was transported to Pleasant Valley Hospital immediately following the accident. Durst later died in the hospital.

The medical condition of the other driver is unknown at this time. The other driver's identity is also unknown.

No other injuries were reported in connection with this accident.

The cause of the accident remains to be released. The accident is under ongoing investigation.
