Driver Suffers Head Injury in Motorcycle Crash in Monongalia County

September 27, 2010 - Monongalia County, W. Va. - Two people were hospitalized following a motorcycle crash in Monongalia County Saturday afternoon.

WDTV reports that the crash occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. Saturday on Route 7 West. The motorcycle and its two occupants were travelling along the roadway when the vehicle went off the edge of the road and its wheels caught some gravel. The driver lost control and the motorcycle skidded onto its side.

The man who was driving the motorcycle suffered head injuries in the crash. He had to be transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital by HealthNet. The passenger on the bike, a woman, was complaining of shoulder pain following the crash. She was ambulanced to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

No information has been released concerning the identity or medical condition of either person injured in the motorcycle accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2008 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 380 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
