February 10, 2011 - Randolph County, W.Va. - Two people had to be taken to the hospital Tuesday morning following a collision in Randolph County.
WDTV reports that the accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Davis Avenue and Randolph Avenue in Randolph County. According to Elkins Police, a red truck was pulling into the intersection when it was hit by a white car driving southbound on Randolph Avenue.
The driver and a passenger in the red truck received injuries in the crash. Both were taken to Davis Memorial Hospital. Each person is said to have suffered only minor injuries.
According to officials, the driver of the white car said he failed to stop at the intersection because of road conditions.
The identities of those involved in the accident are unknown at this time. The driver of the white car received citations for driving too fast for roadway conditions.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
